Driving data and privacy: what Road Rank collects and what it does not

A plain-English look at what location data Road Rank uses, when it records, what is stored, and how to delete it.

🏆

A driving app needs your location, so it is fair to ask what happens to it. Here is how Road Rank handles it.

When does it record?

Only when you start a drive. While a drive is recording, Android shows a notification so the app can keep recording if you switch apps or the screen turns off. When you pause or end the drive, recording stops. Location is not collected when no drive is running.

What stays on your phone

Your trips are stored on your device. Routes are sent to our server only if you submit a drive to the leaderboard, or if you use Pro cloud backup.

What the leaderboard server keeps

When you submit a drive, the server checks the route points to confirm the score is genuine. After checking, it keeps only the date, distance, duration and score. The route is not kept.

What other people see

If you join the leaderboard: your display name, score, distance, drive count and the city and country you chose. Not your email. Not your routes.

The AI coach

Pro’s AI coach only receives numbers about a drive: distance, time, speeds, event counts and score. No names, places or routes.
